Hey subscribers!
Long time no speak.
I’ve been busy with a lot at the moment, and haven’t had much time for Copywriting 101, but it’s time to get back to it.
In Why LinkedIn is Amazing for Copywriters, I covered some of the best copywriters for starting out in the copywriting world.
As I mentioned, LinkedIn is a goldmine.
The ones I covered were the big names, but there are some content creators who are absolutely ideal for mid-weight copywriters, and will also open you up to other pockets of the social network with lots of other creators.
Note: There are a lot of copywriters on LinkedIn that give LinkedIn its reputation for being cringe and worthless, they are definitely ones to avoid.
A lot of copywriters use LinkedIn purely as a sales funnel, so will post a lot of preachy content that is fairly worthless. These are solid options though. They’re active but actually speak about things of value.
1. Graham Fielding
https://www.linkedin.com/in/grahamfielding/
This guy is just starting out as a poster, and he’s already smashing it. I’ve only just started following him and I’m already a fan.
I’ve also started commenting on a few of his posts, which is something new for me, as I’ve always been a poster and a lurker, but never interacted on LinkedIn, which is something that I’m definitely looking to change in 2024.
You should follow him for an example of some great posts. He has a very human, honest approach, and they really hit the nail on the head.
He’s also hilarious, so just follow for the comedy factor.
2. Caroline McMurray
https://www.linkedin.com/in/carolyn-copywriter/
Caroline is an absolute powerhouse in the Gen Z copywriting space, and even has her own copywriting community called Word Tonic.
Copywriting communities are a fantastic way to get involved, and also find freelance clients.
Genuinely one of the best copywriters on LinkedIn at the moment, and she’s only getting stronger.
One to follow now, and also watch for the future.
3. Laurence Blume
https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurenceblume/
Laurence is a veteran of the copywriting world, and has been a copywriter for over 20 years.
I had a 1-1 call with Laurence a few weeks ago and he’s just decided to start breaking into the modern copywriter space, or what he called “Copywriter 2.0”. He’s a lovely guy, and gave me some great advice.
He’s started a newsletter too, which is definitely worth subscribing to, as it’s geared specifically towards aspiring copywriters.
Is there anything you’d like to know about how to become a copywriter?
Let me know in the comments, and I can write a post in future about it. Don’t be shy!
