I did some filming outside this week.
This was a new experience.
I had to get over the fear of strangers looking at me as I was clearly filming a video.
However, I had the strangest encounter.
I met a man fishing Lime bikes out of the Thames.
He had a rope with a grappling hook like Batman and was trying to snare these bikes that “some stupid kids” had thrown into the Thames.
However, he couldn’t actually lift the bike up because Lime bikes weigh a ton.
I would know. I fell off one once and the fall was fine but then the Lime bike crushing my leg was the real pain.
Strangely, he twice refused my help to get the bike out, even though he couldn’t. As if it was some personal challenge.
But I did get chatting to him. He works contractually for Lime, picking up lost or broken bikes and scooters.
He told me that he gets £50 per bike returned to a warehouse.
Also, each Lime bike is worth £2,500 to the company.
Before I could make any tenuous link to ‘what this taught me about B2B sales’ he ran off to get gloves which he claimed were the reason he couldn’t lift the bike.
He still didn’t get it out, even when I’d finished filming this video.
Good luck to him.
